Hello,
I have two questions.
1. Found how to use NCL to convert .shp to .nc. How about shapefiles in geojson format?
2. the mask has to be in the same grid as the data file, right?

Hi Jay,
According to me, the answer of your questions can be:
1.) You can convert geojson to .shp file using online tools. (e.g https://mapshaper.org)
2.) You can regrid the file according to your data file, after creating the mask file.
