Question about remapnn output (gridtype: latlon)
Added by Kyoung Choi about 5 years ago
Hi, I have a re-gridded temperature file from 2.02deg x 2.5 deg to 0.5deg x 0.5deg.
The grid-type of the original file is "latlon" with the first and last latitude increase of 1.5 and other latitude increase of 2.02.
I put the following information for grid.txt and did rempann:
gridtype = lonlat
gridsize = 259200
xname = lon
xlongname = longitude
xunits = degrees_east
yname = lat
ylongname = latitude
yunits = degrees_north
xsize = 720
ysize = 360
xfirst = 0.25
xinc = 0.5
yfirst = -89.75
yinc = 0.5
Question: For the results, I am not sure if it is correctly done or not,
because I got the following results which are split the first and last two lat grids into 3 grids and others into 4 or 5 grids. Isn't it supposed to split a grid into 4 for everywhere?
If remapnn considered the area weight, why do I not have 5 repeat values near equators?.... I also checked the area weighted values of two files (compared the area weight value of origianl file with remapnned file). Those are slightly different.
- How can I check if it is correctly done or not?
- Also would "remapbil" have similar frequency trend while the values will be different? How do you verify your results?
At fixed lon:
index lat) ori lat - > remapnn lat (repeat requency)
0 ) 252.3309 - > 3 times (e.g., first three lat values are 252.3309)
1 ) 251.0717 - > 3
2 ) 250.2335 - > 4
3 ) 248.9082 - > 4
4 ) 248.5878 - > 4
5 ) 246.1687 - > 4
6 ) 244.1283 - > 4
7 ) 244.5122 - > 4
8 ) 247.0938 - > 4
9 ) 252.2882 - > 4
10 ) 261.2653 - > 4
11 ) 272.3902 - > 5
12 ) 276.1356 - > 4
.
.
33 ) 301.5818 - > 5
.
.
Thanks for your time!
Kyung
