double free or corruption

We are using cdo to subset and regrid MERRA2/M2I6NVANA.5.12.4 files.
With v1.9.6, cdo crashed and reported:

Thanks for the information! This problem will be solved in the next CDO release 1.9.7.

May I ask what's the plan to release 1.9.7? Do we have the similar issue in previous version?
I asking this because we are upgrading our online service which is heavily relied on CDO.

This problem exists only in v1.9.6. We plan the release of 1.9.7 during the next month.

you can update cdo with conda, the latest CDO release is already in the conda-forge channel
