convert nc file to text file

Hi,

I already downloaded the retro emission data as nc files. Then i am trying to convert it
to text file just like the same text file provided in the tutorial of WRF chem using retro, gocart, etc.
i tried to use cdo because cdo is in the list of software tools in retro page.
but the output format is not the same as that provided in the tutorial.
may i ask how to use to to give the same output format?

cdo does not support the kind of formatting that retro uses.

You'll have to find another recommended software compatible with retro's format or write your own fortran/c program.

cdo is compatible with netcdf, grib, SERVICE, EXTRA and IEG file formats and is excellent for reading and processing.
You can use cdo for manipulating the netcdf files, and find some way to convert it to the desired format after.

Maybe someone else on this list from MPI has a better idea than me?

You could also use ncdump or operators from the output module. But I'm not sure you can create the format you want.
