Added by José Veiga over 10 years ago
Dear all,
after using the command bellow
cdo -f nc import_binary input.ctl output.nc
I received the message cdo import_binary (Abort): I/O error reading record!
What is happening ? What should I do to fix this problem?
Helps will be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It seems that the description in the ctl file contains more records than the data file. You are using an relative old CDO version. Newer CDO versions will extent this error message with the exact record position in the file. You can try to use the CDO option -v to find out how many timesteps can be read. Then you can adjust the tdef line with this number.
cdo -v ... import_binary ifile.ctl ofile

Hi,
After read your message I identified the problem. The problem was related to the tdef of my ctl file that should be set as 1 instead of 213, once my data is related just to one time information of precipitation.
Now I succeeded with the command cdo -f nc import_binary input.ctl output.nc.
Thank you.
