cdo smooth9

Hi,
why does the smooth9-operator work only on a "quadrilateral curvilinear grid"?
I would like to smooth fields which are on a regular lon/lat-grid. Can you recommend any other operator for that?

Hi,
As far as I know it works on regular lon-lat grid as well (CDO 1.6.x) For example, try:
cdo -f nc -smooth9 -random,r360x180 ofile.nc

A regular lon-lat grid is a special case of a quadrilateral curvilinear grid.

I noticed now that I have a wrong grid description in my file. I will fix that than it should work.
