cdo command line options - chain propagation
Added by Brendan DeTracey over 3 years ago
How does cdo decide where, in an operator chain, to apply a command line option? Are the options applied after the final operator in a chain?

hi Brendan!
Options are handles globally where ever possible. there are so many of them - do you have something specific in mind?
cheers

-a
, --cmor
, , --grid
, -m
, --reduce_dim
, -r
For example, would -a
be applied first to all the files in a bra-ket at right of a command line chain before they are passed to the first operator? Someone asked a question for which I thought knowing this would be important. Can't rememmber where. New puppy==no sleep.

hm, all these options are relates to the output file, so CDO applies this when writing the stream to disk. Before that all streams are in memory.
- Absolute or relative time-axis makes no different for internal computation, because the underlying IO library CDI abstracts from it.
cmor
is again just a sick way of generating output- funny: I never used '-g'
