Reduced Gaussian to regular lat-long

Can anyone provide a recipe for conversion of EC n80 reduced Gaussian data files to a regular lat-lon grid using cdo?

I have tried to do this looking at the documentation but can't quite figure it out.

According to that thread, this method works for grib files. My files are netcdf, however.

Maybe its just not feasible?
