cdo yearmin

Added by Guilong Li over 10 years ago

I am using cdo yearmin function to extract annual minimum temperature from EC-EARTH output. The problem is cdo can't extract annual minimum temperature correctly for this model. For example, when I use cdo yearmin to extract file "tasmin_day_EC-EARTH_historical_r1i1p1_19900101-19991231.nc", which I should have 10 annual outputs, however cdo only outputs 5 values. Do you have any idea why I have this output and how to solve this problem? Thanks.

We can't reproduced this problem. Could you please upload an example file. You can use our ftp server (ftp.zmaw.de) if the file is too large.

I have uploaded the data to ftp.zmaw.de:incoming/guilong. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the file! This file was created with the NCO tool ncrcat by concatenate 10 yearly files to one file. Unfortunately this method produces wrong date/time information for the last 9 years. Please check it with:

cdo sinfo ifile.nc
A workaround for this problem is to overwrite the time axis information with settaxis:
cdo yearmin -settaxis,1990-01-01,12:00:00,1day ifile.nc ofile.nc

It works. Thanks a lot.

It is weird as I use the "cdo yearmin" for maximum temperature, and it works. I don't understand why one institute uses different methods to deal with different variables.
