ensmean question

Dear Forum, I have a question regarding the 'ensmean' function:
I have several files with the same variable names and the same number of time steps. The time axis however is different for all these files (e.g. file1.nc from Jan81-Dec81, file2.nc from Jan82-Dec83 and so on).
Will 'cdo ensmean file*.nc out.nc' still correctly calculate the mean of all these files (First month mean in out.nc is the mean of all the input files, the same for the second month and so on)?

ensmean doesn't care about the date/time information in the file. So it is exactly what you want. The first month mean in out.nc is the mean of the first month of all the input files.
