problem with cdo monthly mean

I'm converting a daily file in monthly with cdo
cdo monavg daily.2000.nc monthly.2000.nc
but the monthly file has the correct number of time step (12months) but with wrong value.
These are the time values for the monthly file:
t=1 --- 2000:1:31:00
t=2 --- 2000:3:2:00
t=3 --- 2000:3:31:00
could you suggest me how to resolve this problem please?

Dear Laura,
It seems that this is a calendar problem. Could you please give us access to an example file? That would help us to find out where this problem comes from. Where do you get the time values for the monthly file, is that a result of a CDO command?
