cdo ensmean (Abort): Number of records changed from 0 to 1

"cdo ensmean ifile[1-7] ofile" returns "cdo ensmean (Abort): Number of records changed from 0 to 1"
Does someone know why exactly this error occurs, so how to prevent it?

Hi,

I think it means that, input files (at least one of them) have unequal number of variables/time-steps. For "ensmean" all input files must have same number of variables and timesteps
