Loosing lev_bnds when using sellevel/sellevidx

Dear CDO helpers,

I would like to make the average of the first 12 levels of a 3d CMORized file of oceanic temperature, which contains 40 levels (and level bounds, lev_bnds). First I select the first 12 levels with sellevidx and then use vertavg :
cdo vertavg -sellevidx,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 ifile.nc ofile.nc
The problem is that when using sellevidx, the resulting file loses the information lev_bnds and thus the vertical average is not correctly weighted. It is the same when using sellevel instead of sellevidx.
Do you have any idea of how I could do the weighted average?

Dear Camille,

Thanks for this information! This is definitely a bug. Support for level bounds in sellevel and sellevidx will be added in the next CDO release. Unfortunately a weighted average is still not implemented in vertmean/ vertavg.
