gencon variables description and usage

Hi all
I am trying to use the variables of the nc file produced by gencon command (src_address,dst_address,remap_matrix etc) in order to do manually a hybrid remapping, using the area weights within python.
Unfortunately, it is not very clear how to use these....
There is any description and/or documentation with the equations utilized in cdo?
