mergegrid

Dear CDO users,
I want to merge the grids of the attached two files and make it as one grid structure file (as screenshot).
I tried
cdo mergegrid file1.nc file2.nc newgrid.nc
But When I open the resultant file in panoply. It could not open.
So any suggestion would be appreciated.

CDO does not support grid merging with generic grids
% cdo mergegrid MARCH_FILE1\(1\).nc MARCH_FILE2\(1\).nc out.nc cdo mergegrid (Abort): Unsupported grid type: generic
btw. your input files miss the coordinates attribute for the data variable. But even then the grid is still 'curvilinear', which also not supported by mergegrid.
