Dear cdo developers and cdo community,
lately I have been trying to find a way to calculate, in each grid cell, spatial averages considering only nearest neighbor cells. I believe that gridboxmean can do exactly that on regular lon-lat grids, but I am working with ICON data (unstructured grid) and would like to calculate the spatial averages on the native icon grid. Can you think of any elegant way to do this with cdo?
