fldstat - grid area weights
Added by Brendan DeTracey 7 months ago
Hi,
The manual states
If the cell area is not available then it will be computed from the geographical coordinates via spherical triangles.
This is only possible if the geographical coordinates of the grid cell corners are available or derivable.
I am wondering which types of grids are valid for automatic grid cell corners derivation. Is it only for regular lat-lon grids?

Hi Brendan,
The automatic derivation of the grid cell corners works with regular lon/lat, regular Gaussian and rotated lon/lat grids.
It also works with all projections if the proj_params attribute is present and CDO was compiled with the proj library.
Cheers,
Uwe
