ydayvar and ymonvar
Added by T. Tob about 12 years ago
Hi CDO,
I couldn't find any details information related
how these functions work (ydayvar and ymonvar), how do they calculate
the variance from multiyear data. I wonder whether the result of this function
is climatological mean variance for specific time during multiple year, or?
Thanks
Thomas

Dear Thomas,
For clarification: the set of yday<operator> Operators treats your dataset as if it consisted of a set of time series. One for each day of your year with exactly as many entries as there are years in your dataset. Then The operator you choose is applied to every member of this set of time series in the same fashion as if it was just a normal consecutive time series.
Please also consider the manual [[https://code.zmaw.de/files/cdo/html/1.5.8/cdo.pdf]] on pages 73 and 77 or the online help cdo -h ydayvar.
Best Regards,
Cedrick
