Using cdo i made time axis conversion of monthly averaged mean wave direction data from era5 ( cdo -r copy )
When i tried plotting the data using Grads, some portions remains black with a message undefined values.
On checking the data generated, it shows data for all the 996 timesteps.
What could be the issue?

without the data and your used cdo command it is not possible to help.
