Is is possible to change the vertical coordinate while convert the horizontal coordinate?

I'm using the MEERA-2 data which horizontal and vertical coordinates are lon-lat grid and pressure level.
Here, I'm trying to change the horizontal and vertical coordinates to gaussian grid and sigma-level.
I can change the horizontal coordinate using remapcon, nXXX input output.
But, Is is possible to change the vertical coordinate while convert the horizontal coordinate?

IMO it is not possible because the horizontal grid will be remapped first and then you can do the vertical interpolation for the horizontal grid.
