How to remove gridtype?

Added by Eunice Lo about 5 years ago

Hello,

I have got many .nc files spanning different decades. My goal is to concatenate them in time using cdo mergetime. However, the files won't merge because "Grid size of the input parameters do not match!". I did cdo griddes on the files, and it appeared that a majority of the files have gridtype = projection for gridID1 (out_good.txt), whereas some files have gridtype = curvilinear and gridtype = projection for gridID1 (e.g. out_bad.txt). The projection gridtype seems to be exactly the same for all files. So, I was wondering if there was a way to remove the curvilinear gridtype from the bad files?

The "good" file can be downloaded here (http://data.ceda.ac.uk/badc/ukcp18/data/land-rcm/uk/12km/rcp85/04/tasmax/day/latest/tasmax_rcp85_land-rcm_uk_12km_04_day_20401201-20501130.nc), the "bad" file can be downloaded here (http://data.ceda.ac.uk/badc/ukcp18/data/land-rcm/uk/12km/rcp85/04/tasmax/day/latest/tasmax_rcp85_land-rcm_uk_12km_04_day_20501201-20601130.nc), and their respective griddes output is attached this thread.

Thanks very much,
Eunice

PS. When I was doing cdo mergetime on the files, I had rearranged the dimensions so that time was the first dimension.

out_good.txt (5.76 KB) out_good.txt griddes output of bad file
out_bad.txt (372 KB) out_bad.txt griddes output of good file

sorry for the late reply. the gridtype cannot be removed because it indicates serious differences in the horizontal grid structure. the download links to not work, so I cannot comment on your input files.

sorry,
