CDO

Good afternoon colleagues,

I was doing some differences of fields, in particular a given field minus a reference version of it. Reference field is a result of an already completed run of MPI-ESM1.2; while the field, from which I substract the reference, is partial since its run has not yet ended. I realised this and then I thought about, how exactly is resolving CDO internally the mismatch on time length.

Outputs seem good and size of the time series corresponds to the number of years already computed for the run, then I am assuming that, somehow it gracefully match first time of perturbed field with first time of reference field. Is this a correct view of how CDO is resolving the mismatch?
