I am trying to run . . . . . cdo eoftime,4 input.nc of1.nc of2.nc . . . . . but this process exceeds all wall time limitations. My input.nc file (size: 55 MB) has around 36000 time steps and the domain is on 1.875 x 1.875 degree grid (40 x 30 grid points).
Even with 150 h wall time limit and 400 GB of RAM the cdo eof was not able to finish. I had to abort it. What am I doing wrong? How does CDO scale? For a 1200 timesteps file and a domain of half of the size I run cdo within 2-3 minutes on my small workstation (4 GB RAM, 1 process, 5minutes) successfully.
