daily average over forecast time steps

Added by Noelia Otero over 9 years ago

Hi,

I would like to ask for some help for calculating cumulative fields (that are accumulated from the start of the forecast). For getting the averaged values, I would need to divide by the length of the forecast step. For instance, if for each day I have 4 steps, and I want daily mean values, I would need to subtract: data(step4)-data(step1)/(step4-step1)*3600 for getting the cumulative field. So far, I tried:

cdo settime,00:00:00 ifile f0.nc
cdo settime,21:00:00 ifile f1.nc
cdo divc,10800 -sub f0.nc f1.nc ofile

But, with settime I still have all timesteps in my output file, and I need my new file with one step per day (with the average).
I also tried by using seltimestep, but since by field has 29996 timesteps..I am not sure if I can select the same timestep for every day,...I am a little bit lost, any idea??

Thanks a lot in advance!

Noelia.

try timselsum or timselmean see CDO doc section 2.8.10 TIMSELSTAT - Time range statistical values: https://code.zmaw.de/projects/cdo/embedded/1.6.4/cdo.html#x1-3330002.8.10
