Count the number of missing values?

In order to check how many values in a file are valid, I would like to count the number of missing values.
How do I do that?

The output of the CDO info operator contains the number of missing values for each horizontal slice of a variable in the "Miss" column. There is no operator to count the missing values of the whole file.

The info* operators output a Miss column with the number missing values per field.
