conda installs older cdo version

I'm trying to install cdo 1.9.9 through conda, but it keeps installing the 1.9.8 version.
conda install -c conda-forge cdo
Collecting package metadata (current_repodata.json): done

This seems to be a conda-repated problem rather than cdo. conda-forge now has cdo-1.9.10.

I was able to download 1.9.10 by creating a new conda environment.

ok, conda can be a bit cumbersome sometimes. I don't fully understand, what's going on inside to be honest.
